Anna-Maria Hefele, born in 1989, is a singer, musician, and teacher specializing in overtone singing. She obtained her Master of Arts degree in Elemental Music and Dance Pedagogy with a focus on classical singing from the Carl Orff Institute, Mozarteum Salzburg, in 2018 (after completing her BA in 2014).
Anna-Maria gained international recognition after her YouTube video on “polyphonic overtone singing” went viral in 2014, accumulating over 22 million views. Since then, she has made regular appearances on various TV shows and radio broadcasts. Headlines about „a voice as from another world“, „the lady with the two voices“, „polyphonic vocalist does the impossible“ have gone viral worldwide.
Traveling the world as a music pedagogue, she shares her expertise through masterclasses, lectures, and workshops on overtone singing technique, its acoustics, and artistic application. Her creative singing workshops also explore yodeling and vocal improvisation.
Anna-Maria Hefele started practicing overtone singing in 2005 and has been composing and arranging for polyphonic solo voice since 2006. Collaborating with contemporary composers, Anna-Maria has been working as a soloist with different ensembles, choirs, and orchestras since 2010. Her musical talents in harp, nyckelharpa, voice, and composition make her a sought-after artist in contemporary ballet, circus, and dance theatre productions.

Anna-Maria Hefele (*1989) ist (Oberton-) Sängerin, Musikerin und Musikpädagogin. 2018 schloss sie ihr Studium der Elementaren- Musik- und Tanzpädagogik mit Hauptfach klassischem Gesang am Carl Orff Institut des Mozarteum Salzburg mit dem Master of Arts (und 2014 mit dem BA) ab.
2014 veröffentlichte sie ihr viral gewordenes YouTube video polyphonic overtone singing mit nunmehr über 20 Millionen Aufrufen, seither folgten viele TV- und Radioauftritte. „Eine Stimme wie nicht von dieser Welt“, „Die Frau mit den zwei Stimmen“, „Polyphone Vokalistin schafft das Unmögliche“ – so und ähnlich lauteten die Schlagzeilen über die Ausnahmemusikerin.
Als Musikpädagogin unterrichtet sie weltweit in Masterclasses und offenen Workshops für Obertongesang, Jodeln und Stimmimprovisation. Als Gastdozentin unterrichtet sie an Musikhochschulen und hält Vorträge über Obertongesang, dessen Akustik sowie künstlerische Anwendungsmöglichkeiten.
Anna-Maria Hefele beschäftigt sich seit 2005 intensiv mit dem Obertongesang und schreibt seit 2006 Kompositionen und Arrangements für polyphone Solostimme. Seit 2010 tritt Anna-Maria als Solistin mit diversen Ensembles, Orchestern und Chören auf und arbeitet hierfür gerne mit zeitgenössischen Komponist_Innen zusammen. Als Musikerin mit Harfe und Nyckelharpa sowie als Sängerin und Komponistin wirkt sie immer wieder mit bei zeitgenössischen Tanz-, Zirkus- und Tanztheaterproduktionen.
